Promoting cognitive health in schizophrenia: A national collaborative effort to implement online psychological intervention
This is study intended for people living with a psychotic disorder. Participants will have the choice to attend either cognitive remediation (CR) or metacognitive training (MCT) sessions with a therapist at the Royal.
CR consists of 16 sessions that are approximately 1.5 hours long over an 8-week period; MCT will include 12 group sessions that are approximately 45-60 mins long each over a 6-week period. Both types of therapy aim to improve cognitive abilities and general functioning in individuals living with psychotic disorders.
This study will be conducted entirely remotely (i.e., over Zoom). Remote assessments will be conducted before and after the therapy takes place to monitor participant symptoms and progress.
Participants will receive a $25 Amazon gift card as financial compensation after each mandatory evaluation session (pre-treatment, post-treatment and 3 months after treatment) for their time. Therefore, if participants attend all three of these sessions, total compensation for the study will be $75 in gift cards.
